A patient app that keeps participants close to their site, and the data clean.
MonitoHQ comes with an app for the patients in your trial. Between visits they record doses in the eDiary, complete ePRO questionnaires at home, check their visit schedule, report symptoms and reach their site by message or phone. Every entry lands on the same patient record the site, the CRA and the data manager already work from.

Between visits, most trials go quiet.
The patient app keeps the study going at home. Patients log each dose in one tap, answer questionnaires that are checked before they are sent, and report side effects in their own words. Entries are saved on the phone until there is signal, then reach the site as structured records.
Everything a participant needs between two visits.
Patients used to do these on paper, over rounds of missed phone calls, or not at all. Now they are in one app, and each one is connected to the patient's site.
eDiary and dosing adherence
Reminders at the protocol's dosing times. Each dose is confirmed and time-stamped, so the site knows adherence before the visit instead of counting returned blisters.
Remote ePRO
Patients complete questionnaires at home on the days the protocol schedules them, so they are not rushed in the waiting room.
Visit schedule
Upcoming visits, their dates and what to bring. When an amendment shifts the windows, the patient's schedule follows.
Adverse event reporting
Patients report a symptom when it happens, with its onset, in their own words, and it goes straight to the site for assessment.
Secure messaging
Questions to the study team in writing, answered by the site and kept with the patient's record.
One tap to call the site
The right site number, always current, for anything that cannot wait for a message.
Easier for the patient. Cleaner for the data manager.
Patient-reported data is only as good as the moment it was captured. The classic example is a paper diary filled in on the bus to the visit. An app that records each entry when it is made avoids that problem.
Recorded when it happens
The system time-stamps doses, diary entries and questionnaires at entry, so the record is contemporaneous instead of reconstructed from memory.
Attributable to the patient
Every entry is made from the patient's own authenticated account and carries that identity in the audit trail.
No transcription step
Responses go straight to the patient record. Nobody copies a paper diary into the eCRF, so there are no copying errors.
Gaps surface early
A missed dose or an overdue questionnaire is visible to the site the same day, while there is still time to follow up.
Complete before submission
The app requires mandatory answers while the patient fills in the form, so the data manager does not inherit half-finished questionnaires.
A trail behind every entry
Each entry and correction is recorded with actor, timestamp and reason, in the same audit trail as the rest of the platform.
What happens when a patient reports a symptom at 21:40.
A symptom reported in the evening is a data point and possibly a safety signal. The patient who had it records it once, and that record starts the site's assessment. Nobody has to remember to write down a phone call.
- SiteCoordinator alerted, patient reachable from the same screen
- InvestigatorEvent queued for seriousness and causality assessment
- eCRFAE entry started with onset and the patient's description
- Patient recordShown on the timeline next to doses and visits
- MonitoringAdded to the review list for the next visit
- Audit trailOriginal report kept, with every update made to it
From enrolment to the next visit, without paper.
Activated at enrolment
Once consent is recorded, the site invites the patient. The app opens on that patient's own schedule, dosing and questionnaires.
Every day: dose and diary
Reminders at the protocol's dosing times; each dose and diary entry confirmed in seconds.
On schedule: ePRO at home
Questionnaires appear on the days the protocol plans them and are completed remotely.
Any time: report or reach out
A symptom, a question or a call to the site, all from the same screen and all on the record.
Visit day: arrive prepared
Date, time and what to bring. The site already sees adherence and reported events before the patient walks in.
Common questions
How does the patient app connect to the rest of MonitoHQ?
It writes to the same patient record the site, the CRA and the data manager already use. A dose confirmed in the eDiary, a completed questionnaire or a reported symptom appears on that patient's timeline next to their visits, consent status and eCRF data. Nothing has to be exported or reconciled between the app and the trial.
Can patients report adverse events directly from the app?
Yes. The patient describes what happened and when it started, and the report reaches their site straight away. The investigator then assesses seriousness, causality and reportability as usual. The patient's report starts that process but never replaces it, and the original report is kept with the assessment. The app is not an emergency service, and patients are told to contact emergency services for anything urgent.
How does the eDiary support medication adherence?
The app reminds the patient at the dosing times the protocol defines, and the patient confirms each dose in a couple of taps. The system time-stamps every confirmation, so the site sees missed or late doses as they happen instead of piecing them together from a paper diary at the next visit.
Can ePRO questionnaires be completed at home?
Yes. Questionnaires appear in the app on the days the protocol schedules them and are completed remotely, with each response time-stamped and attributed to the patient. Licensed instruments remain subject to their owner's licence terms, as they would on paper.
Is the patient app 21 CFR Part 11 compliant?
Compliance depends on your validated implementation and your procedures, not on software alone. The patient app uses the same technical controls as the rest of MonitoHQ: attributable entries, a time-stamped audit trail that cannot be edited, and role-based access. We support your validation, but we do not claim that using MonitoHQ makes a sponsor or site compliant.
